Long Green Creek

– PROJECT –

Overview

The Long Green Creek restoration project is located on an agricultural- zoned parcel. Baltimore County Soil Conservation District was awarded funding for restoring an important reach of Long Green Creek, one with a healthy population of naturally reproducing brown trout. In addition, oxbow wetlands and a one-acre shallow water wildlife habitat feature were also incorporated into the design. Ecotone engineered an innovative groundwater discharge design as part of the shallow water feature so cool groundwater from below the pond bottom is released rather than from the surface. The design incorporated multithreaded channels which multiply the amount of aquatic and benthic habitat per unit length.

Highlights

  • Groundwater Discharge from Wildlife Feature
  • Multi-Threaded Channel Design
  • Trout Habitat Improvement
