Jim Morris
Principal/Ecologist
Jim is involved with just about everything at Ecotone. From wetland delineations and other site investigations, to drafting and report writing in the office, to meeting with clients and agency personnel, to supervising construction of wetland restoration projects, Jim keeps busy at Ecotone. He is Ecotone’s principal wetland ecologist and is our resident expert on Federal/State environmental issues and regulations as well as local environmental regulations. He has been dealing with natural resource regulations and assessing and restoring wetlands and upland habitats for more than 17 years. Outside of Ecotone, you find Jim hiking the backwoods of his home State of Virginia, or playing with his four daughters.

Scott McGill
Principal/Restoration Specialist
Scott is Ecotone’s stream restoration specialist and has been assessing and restoring aquatic resources for 18 years. Scott is involved in every aspect of stream restoration design from site assessment, reference reach determination, conceptual design, final design to permitting, project management, and construction. Scott also manages many of Ecotone's forest and wetland banks. When not at Ecotone, Scott enjoys fly-fishing, competitive soccer and mountain biking, and camping with his family.

Brian Bartell
Registered Landscape Architect
Brian is a Registered Landscape Architect with over fifteen years of environmental consulting experience. Brian is managing numerous diverse environmental projects including wetland restoration design, wetland assessment and delineations, forest stand delineations and forest conservation plans, stream restoration design, and 404/State wetland permitting, and construction management. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty either, and is usually involved in managing construction of Ecotone's environmental restoration projects. You've heard of a "Jack of all trades" - Brian is it. Brian takes his free time pretty seriously, and devotes his free time to traveling, mountain biking, running, skiing, and fishing.

Rich Berkey
Environmental Scientist
Rich joined Ecotone in December of 2004. Rich performs stakeout survey for Ecotone construction projects and manages environmental restoration projects as well as handling environmental consulting duties. When not reconstructing his home, Rich enjoys fishing, hunting, and participates from time to time in those crazy 24 hour mountain bike races.

Curt Hall
Environmental Scientist
Curt is an Environmental Scientist and came to us in 2005 with a long history in the environmental construction business. He divides his time between wetland and stream restoration design and construction implementation.
Curt is the proud father of two boys. When he's not chasing children or changing diapers, he spends his time fishing, camping, fishing, hiking, and trout fishing.

Sean McDonough
Environmental Scientist
Sean is an Environmental Scientist and provides wetland and stream design expertise as well as extensive experience in construction implementation. Sean oversees Ecotone's environmental monitoring program which collects and analyzes data on all of Ecotone's environmental restoration projects.

Troy Harward
Environmental Scientist
Troy joined Ecotone, Inc. in January 2010. He is an Environmental Scientist who graduated from Salisbury University in 2009. You can find Troy completing wetland and stream surveys, assisting in managing the environmental restoration projects, and working in the groundwater monitoring program.
In his free time, Troy enjoys the outdoors by camping, fishing, and live music.

Kyle Ashmun
Environmental Scientist
Kyle joined Ecotone in August of 2011 as an Environmental Scientist with experience in environmental consulting, permitting, restoration design, and construction. In 2005, he graduated from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Virginia with a B.A in Environmental Science. Kyle spent five years as an environmental consultant for a full service land development firm providing a wide range of services throughout the state of Virginia. These services included, but were not limited to wetland delineations, Clean Water Act Section 401 and 404 regulatory permitting, construction monitoring, rapid bioassements, mitigation site searches, and mitigation bank development. At Ecotone, he is working to expand the company’s restoration and mitigation services internally and externally. As you can see, Kyle enjoys spending time with his father patrolling the southern Atlantic waters for the elusive false albecore in addition to traveling, hiking, and mountain biking.
