| Ecotone provides a wide range of reforestation services in the Mid-Atlantic region. We work with Clients to develop an implementation strategy that reduces risk for the Client, provides a framework to enhance overall plant survivability, and in the end, produces a healthy forest. Our experience with planting both upland, riparian, and wetland forests has given us valuable insight into the requirements and desires of local and state regulators, helping to ensure that our planting sites gain the necessary approvals with little or no delay. Prior to developing a reforestation plan for a site, Ecotone evaluates the hydrologic regime, soil condition, invasive species presence, existing cover, herbivore populations. We develop plans custom tailored to a site’s conditions, and can install specific species mixes to create unique ecosystems at the project sponsor’s request. Our plans cover all aspects of the reforestation process, from site preparation through long term monitoring and maintenance measures. |

Ecotone also offers full service planting services, including site preparation, planting, maintenance, monitoring and regulatory reporting. Prior to planting, we prepare our sites by removing undesirable and invasive species, preparing the soil as needed, and planting a seed mix to establish a dense cover of grasses to reduce weed growth. We have found that planting native hardwood trees and shrubs, two to three feet tall, on 11-foot centers, and protected with Tubex tree shelters provides the most economical and viable projects. All of our planted material is covered by a one-year, 100 percent guarantee. We manage many of our reforestation sites to ensure that rodent and deer damage is minimized, and to reduce the encroachment of ecosystem disruptive invasive species. We also work with our Clients after planting to coordinate timely inspections and ensure that site bonds are released on schedule.
