Bee Tree Farm - In addition to restoring forest to over 51 acres on the property and protecting the existing forest in perpetuity, Ecotone worked with the Land Preservation Trust to develop a long term protection program for the property which would preclude the property from ever being developed. A conservation easement was recorded on the property in 2005. 51 acres of native trees and shrubs were planted in 2005- 2007. All trees and shrubs were protected with trees and shrub shelters to enhance survival rates and to aid in maintenance of the property. Ecotone implemented an invasive species management program to suppress multiflora rose and oriental bittersweet, which were outcompeting native species within the forest planting areas. Environmental credits for the forest planting are provided to multiple participants in Baltimore County who purchase the credits to meet the requirements of the Maryland Forest Conservation Act. Bog turtle habitat areas were left unplanted with woody material to maintain existing emergent wetland habitat to the threatened bog turtle. Finally, Ecotone installed wildlife food plots outside of the forest planting areas to further enhance wildlife habitat.
Wooly Bugger Farm - In addition to restoring forest to over 29 acres on the property and protecting the 19 acres of existing forest in perpetuity. 29 acres of native trees and shrubs were planted in 2007. All trees and shrubs were protected with trees and shrub shelters to enhance survival rates and to aid in maintenance of the property. Environmental credits for the forest planting are provided to multiple participants in Baltimore County who purchase the credits to meet the requirements of the Maryland Forest Conservation Act. Finally, Ecotone installed wildlife food plots outside of the forest planting areas to further enhance wildlife habitat. The stream and wetland restoration work is scheduled for construction in the spring of 2009.
		Ranarium Farm - Ecotone plans to restore forest to over 21 acres on the property and will protect the 12 acres of existing forest in perpetuity. 10 acres of native trees and shrubs were planted in 2008. All trees and shrubs were protected with trees and shrub shelters to enhance survival rates and to aid in maintenance of the property. Environmental credits for the forest planting are provided to multiple participants in Baltimore County who purchase the credits to meet the requirements of the Maryland Forest Conservation Act. Finally, Ecotone installed wildlife food plots outside of the forest planting areas to further enhance wildlife habitat. The 7 acres of wetland restoration work is scheduled for construction in late 2009.
Broad Creek - The project was designed, permitted, constructed, and planted during the period between November 2004 and May 2005. The landowner was compensated in return for recording a conservation easment on the restored wetland and reforestation acreage. The project resulted in the restoration of 6 acres of forested wetland, and the establishment of 4 acres of upland reforestation. The restored wetlands have proven to persistent, robust hydrology and provide significant habitat for a variety of wildlife, including breeding areas for numerous amphibian species.
