Ecotone is excited to offer instructional courses for Stream Restoration Construction, Heavy Equipment Operation with a focus on Stream Restoration, and Stream Restoration Construction Consultation. Each course will offer valuable hands-on experience and knowledge to help participants grow in their specific field. Designers are encouraged to attend as well. With these courses designers will learn how to ensure their projects are being built according to their design and specifications while learning construction/build techniques. Upon completion participants will receive a certificate of completion as well as access to our staff for future questions on future projects.
Introduction to Stream Restoration Construction
This course is intended for all persons interested in pursuing stream restoration projects. Contractors, municipalities, government employees, as well as conservation groups are encouraged to attend.
The function of this course is to offer Heavy equipment operators, site foreman, and construction managers an introduction into stream restoration construction. In this course, attendees will learn the basics of stream restoration including site layout, basic surveying, plan interpretation, river behavior and how it relates to restoration, restoration materials, and restoration structures. Classes will be held on active restoration construction sites, as well as in a classroom setting. Attendees will be encouraged to operate equipment for the installation of structures, as well as shoot grade and provide layout support. Upon completion, attendees will have firsthand knowledge of the particulars of stream restoration construction, and the specialized techniques required to perform this work.
Advanced Stream restoration Heavy equipment operation
This course is intended for skilled excavator operators that are interested in pursuing a higher knowledge of stream restoration techniques. This course will focus on accuracy, efficiency, and overall quality of constructed restoration techniques. Classes will emphasize river morphology, structure resiliency, and the “why” factor. Class sizes will be kept to a minimum size, so that each student will spend at least 8 hours operating and constructing structures.
